Andras Jones is the host and creator of The Radio8Ball Show.

Born in 1968, Andras grew up in Olympia, Washington where his father, Richard M. Jones, was a teacher of dream psychology at The Evergreen State College. The senior Jones led dream seminars, described in his book The Dream Poet, which bear a striking resemblance to the Radio8Ball format. In the dream seminars people would interpret each other’s dreams as if they were poetry and, as the younger Jones says, “in Radio8Ball we interpret poetry and music as if they were our dreams.”

Before creating Radio8Ball Andras Jones had moderate success in a variety of artistic endeavors. Straight out of high school he moved to Hollywood where he acted in several films and TV shows.

During this time he formed the band The Boon with Josh Clayton-Felt and when that project ended he started the band Mr. Jones and The Previous (later shortened simply to The Previous) which released five CDs between 1990 and 1997, followed by numerous solo releases from Jones with members of his old band playing supporting roles on the recordings. Throughout this period Jones traveled the nation playing songs and surfing synchronicity.

Jones’ travels bridged a variety of venues from political rallies to horror conventions to sports bars to leftist coffeeshops. As he puts it, “It seems like I had 25 fans/friends in 75 cities, which was never enough people to create the energy in the room which was condusive to the show I wanted to put on, but it did allow me to meet a lot of marvelously iconoclastic individuals, and their cats.”

Throughout his life Jones has taken a variety of odd jobs in the entertainment field. Some of these jobs include; Road crew for Beastie Boys. Booking agent for singer-songwriters. Personal archivist for Rickie Lee Jones. Song doctor for Andy Dick. Freelance rock journalist. Workshop organizer for Tantra teachers. And the list goes on and on.

Having spent almost ten years developing Radio8Ball on KAOS 89.3 FM, Andras has become deeply acquainted with the ebb and flow of synchronicity. “It’s all about being grateful and playful. When we play with synchronicity and divination what the oracle shows is our own mind. That can be a beautiful thing or a scary thing but when you dance with it it’s always better. That’s why I like to use music as the delivery system.”

Between Radio8Ball work Jones pens a column on New Masculinity for Daniel Pinchbeck's online magazine Reality Sandwich.
