State of The Radio8Ball Show

The state of Radio8Ball is promising. The Seattle PI and the LA Times have done big, favorable pieces on The Pop Oracle in the last month and the live events in Seattle and LA both benefitted from the coverage in attendance and vibe. The rooms felt very warm and full, just the way I like ‘em.

I’ve been hosting the live Radio8Ball Show events in Seattle since June and I started doing LA events in August. That’s 14 events (and one interesting show in Minneapolis which you can read about in this article in The New Times.) It is kind of thrilling to look at the caliber of artists who have been attracted to this format. So far we’ve had Jill Sobule, Jon Auer, Mirah, The Owls, Jim Page, Andrea Wittgens, Two Loons For Tea, Jenny Jenkins, Scott Taylor, Central Services, Steve Poltz & Anya Marina. That’s an impressive crew and I’m really looking forward to the upcoming events with Dan Bern and Veda Hille in March.

Versant Media has been filming the live shows in Seattle and you can see a clip from the Andrea Wittgens event on our MySpace page. Grace and David who run that outfit have been incredibly supportive of the show with their time, their talent, their connections and their equipment. It is really great to have them on board. We’re working on pulling together the resources to shoot a pilot for The Radio8Ball TV Show and I’m very excited about that.

One of the most rewarding, and yet most difficult projects to keep rolling is our Friday broadcast on Conscious Talk 1150 AM in Seattle. I love doing it. We’ve had some incredible guests like Daniel Pinchbeck, Eden Sky, Ralph Metzner & Veronica Monet and lots of great musicians, but it is very expensive for a shoestring operation like ours. We REALLY need sponsors who are willing to sponsor one show a month for 6 months to a year. It’s actually not that expensive if you aren’t paying for one every week like I am. If you dig the show and run a business please think about spending some of your advertising dollars with us. It will help keep us and synchronicity on the air, and it’s good business if you want to reach people like yourself.

Seriously, Radio8Ball can use all the help it can get, financial or otherwise. Not just Radio8Ball either. I need your help. If you are inspired by the idea of Radio8Ball there is probably a role for you to play in its development. There is just so much fun stuff to do, so many different ways that Radio8Ball can make magick a little bit more musical and music a little bit more magickal. Thank you to all of you who have supported Radio8Ball in getting this far. 2008 should be our year.

In other news:

It looks like I might be starting to write a column for The Weekly Volcano tentatively titled Synchronicity of The Week which will be a print version of Radio8Ball. Questions will be answered with a song which is posted on the paper’s website. Look for that soon.

I’m also giving more private musical divination by e-mail and phone. This is very rewarding for me and seems like it is of value to those who receive them. Please use the contact form under my name to get in touch with me if you would like to set up a session.

Those of you who listen to Democracy Now! May have noticed that they have been playing a song called “Hold Your Nose & Vote” during their election coverage and attributing he song to me. I have received several calls and e-mails asking if that is my song. It is. It comes from a CD that I put out called A Curmudgeon For All Seasons in 1999.
