BroadcastRadio8Ball broadcasts are currently on hiatus while we focus on our live productions but there are plenty of podcasts available on this site and we encourage you to enjoy them. Radio8Ball began as a show on KAOS 89.3FM in August of 1998. During that time the focus of the show was answering questions from callers by picking CDs at random and playing them on shuffle function. The show also featured live musical guests like Dan Bern, Rickie Lee Jones, John Wesley Harding & Anya Marina. The KAOS version of the show had three different co-hosts; Jeff Stern, Justin B. Wright and Tamara Tillinghast. Radio8Ball ran on KAOS for just over ten years and during that time was one of the station's most beloved shows. It would probably still be running on the station were it not for the mental breakdown of the show's last co-host and the station's decision to support her stalking and harrassment campaign against Andras. The reasons for this are murky at best and are only made more confusing by the station's official story, which is that the show was cancelled on KAOS because it was "too popular to fit the station's charter of supporting underrepresented programming" and because an alternative version of the show was being "broadcast on a commercial station in Seattle." In 2007, over a year before the show went off the air on KAOS, Andras Jones started producing a one-hour AM version of Radio8Ball for Alternative Talk 1150AM. This show ran until the fall of 2009 and featured a different twist on the format of the KAOS show. Rather than focusing on calls from the audience the AM version of the show featured a live musical guest in-studio with a list of 8 songs, and featured guests who asked questions and discussed the answers. The songs were chosen by picking a number between 1 and 8. Producer/engineer Eric Reidar also played the role of co-host on these shows. In the fall of 2009 the AM broadcast was put on hiatus although archived versions of Radio8Ball still run sporadically on Alternative Talk 1150AM. Radio8Ball is currently looking for a new home for the broadcast version of the show. |
