From ANDRAS JONES: For this trip to the Radio8Vault we shine a light on the time two traveling artists found their way to the studios at KAOS to engage The Pop Oracle, one a second generation movie star, the other a self-proclaimed “bookworm” and and NPR radio host. I knew Rae Dawn Chong because she once attended one of my band’s shows after which we struck up a friendship. I remembered her from the films “American Flyers” and “Choose Me”, both severely underrated flicks you don’t hear much about anymore, and I remain as much a fan as a friend. Michael Silverblatt is the host of KCRW’s “Bookworm”, one of my favorite radio shows when I was living in LA. Michael was Rae Dawn’s traveling companion and I’m still not sure where they were headed or if this was just a road trip for the sake of road tripping but, lucky for me, they decided to make Olympia a stop on the trip. I still have fond memories of the show and our dinner after. And now you can enjoy a pair of musical divinations with the professionally delicious voices of these two thoughtful individuals.
