Jenny Montgomery (with Heath)
&
BEAUTS do BEAT HAPPENING

From ANDRAS JONES: I have to jump in here with a quick sync update. Today The Intercept put out a very inspirational video that seems to be in alignment with Jenny and Heath’s question. Check it out. Also of note, today’s randomly chosen Pop Oracle song from the R8B app by Jon Auer is the song “Sundown” which syncs as an antithetical to the “Sunrise” movement currently demanding a Green New Deal on behalf of future generations. What’s it going to be “Sunrise” or “Sundown”?

From ROY IVY: This episode should be seen and heard, as musician and interwoven Olympian Jenny Montgomery and her brilliant, adorable son Heath espouse upon universal truths and fears in the presence of the Pop Oracle. Seriously, he’s one of those kids that makes you wanna have kids, even if you hate kids, which I certainly do. Formerly of the band Oklahoma Scramble, Jenny makes us pine for the heyday of the Olympia scene, when apparently every talented introverted extrovert in the Pacific Northwest lived in the Martin Apartments. It’s romantic for people like me, who were in Texas at the time wishing we could be as free, weird, gorgeous, and unwashed as Olympia bands.

Jenny and Heath bring adultlike curiosity about the future and addressing and escaping dread to the Pop Oracle. There’s so much to be pessimistic about these days, but there’s always hope that great art rises from oppression. I’m the kind of guy who wonders why anybody would bring a child into this monstrous world, but when you’re looking in the bright hopeful eyes of lil’ Heath, you get the feeling that the kids are alright, and just might save the day.

The question: “What is the next big thing?”

The answer: “I Spy.” A ditty about international espionage. The Oracle knows what’s up.

POP ORACLE Song of The Day (April 18, 2019): JON AUER “Sundown”

I SPY

I’m more important in the usa
Than a spy for the fbi
I’m trained to meet
The criminal elite
And I seek out wherever evil resides

I spy

I’m at home in the streets of rome
Or just hanging round old shanghai
Danger is my logo
Espionage a go-go
I’m just diggin’ this american crime

Two deadly agents of a wicked persuasion
Tried to send me on a permanent vacation
I gave them the slip
‘Cause I’m totally hip
To that modern counter espionage

I spy

I got a bulletproof car and a secret star
And a ring with xray eyes
I wear spanish boots
Crooks brother suits
And I don’t know how to cry
