Profiles In Eccentricity
(Part 1):
“John Fahy”
with
Andras Jones
The music of Colleen Green

From ANDRAS JONES: The guys from PROFILES IN ECCENTRICITY are closing out this episode. That’s JOHN FAHY, AARON PITA & MATT BROUSSEAU, and these sessions go long so get ready. In preparation for this session I threw a case of Miller Lite into their cage, turned up the microphones and the next 4 Pop Oracle sessions are the result. We start off with a long discussion of our own eccentric profiles, including my early days acting with Traci Lords, Aaron’s service to a thoughtful pilot’s wife, and Matt’s bike thievery when he was a drunkrn reprobate in Amherst, Massachusetts. All of this leads to a question from John Fahy, read by Aaron Pita (for reasons that are still a bit of a mystery). His answer, which I performed, was written by COLLEEN GREEN. Colleen was one of our first musical guests on the Radio8Ball podcast. She’s played one of our live shows and asked a question on another show. In about two and half weeks you’ll be able to hear her as part of our Radio8Ball tribute to The Kinks with Bart Davenport and Willie Wisely. Hers was the first cover song I learned for this episode. Doing so, and the joy it brought me, is really what inspired the whole idea of covering the others. And finally, this was Colleen’s randomly chosen answer to my question to kick off her episode back in August of ’17. She gave it to me. I gave it to John, and now let’s see what John Fahy has for us. I’m going to hand the Radio8Blog over to him now but first, just so you’ll know I wasn’t lying, here are a couple of shots from my acting class video with Traci Lords.

From JOHN FAHY: Here we are, the Profiles lads. This experience with Andras was a multi-tiered delight for all of us, particularly myself, as the sessions following this one will illustrate.

This segment, featuring my question to the oracle, was dysfunctional but great. I was being a diva, an emotional creative type, and I refused to speak. I was not absent due to a street deal gone awry, as has been rumored. However my lack of speech allowed Matt and Aaron to describe the origin and spirit of the show with sheer perfection, as is their habit. Aaron wonderfully, hysterically, asks Andras if he’s been in porn. Immediately, Andras shares about his experiences with Traci Lords and I really wish I had been “there,”listening back now.

Synchronicity abounds. Everyone does impressions of me, no wonder I was in the throes of emotion. Matt and Aaron share eccentric behaviors of their own. We spend so much time talking about eccentric characters on our podcast that we really rarely share about ourselves, another reason this was such an enjoyable time for us. Andras inquires about what makes us weird and we respond with resounding perversion and vice.

Finally I submit my fears to the oracle about becoming a weirdo through spending so much time covering weirdos on Profiles In Eccentricity. Colleen Green’s song, through Andras’s performance and Aaron’s interpretation, suggests that I shall not succumb to anymore than is my desire. Each of us are the architects of our own destiny. Apparently mine just has a bunch of creeps in it. And piss and nut.

POP ORACLE Song of The Day (April 27, 2019): JENNY JENKINS “River”

U Coulda Been An A
by Colleen Green

U coulda been an A
But you’d rather be a D
Oh oh oh baby
Why can’t you see
You belong to me-e-e-e-e
Oh oh yeah
You coulda stayed with me
We coulda been happy
Oh oh oh baby
It could’ve been easy
But you are easy-e-e-e-e
Oh oh yeah

But you’re so easy-e-e-e-e
Oh oh yeah

Oh oh oh baby
Oh oh oh baby
Oh oh oh baby
Oh oh oh baby
