Christian Gisborne
&
Velvet Starlings

From ANDRAS JONES: We come to the close of our VELVET STARLINGS episode with a question about Sir Paul McCartney from bandleader CHRISTIAN GISBORNE. Christian was concerned that McCartney might be offended by his conspiratorial query but there are no verboten topics in the realm of the Pop Oracle, and there are some pretty sweet syncs that accompany it. Not least of which is today’s randomly chosen song from the R8B app; JON AUER of The Posies covering “Blackbird” at a Radio8Ball event in Seattle in the early aughts. It’s tempting to think we planned this but we wouldn’t, we can’t and it would be so boring if we did. Sometime the purity looks like bullshit. Something to ponder there. Thanks to VELVET STARLINGS and their friends for joining us fort this synchronistic exploration which is sure to take on new meaning as this band matures with the years.

POP ORACLE Song of The Day (June 9, 2019): JON AUER “Blackbird”

Amazon Prime

Walking down the city streets that you pretend to know

In line they’re waiting for your show

Spending all your money on posh designer clothes

Strut around like peacocks on display

You know I feel alright

You know I feel ok

You know you play guitar just like Jimmy Page

Well you can laugh now

You think you’ve fooled the crowd

You can laugh now

But you’re the clown

Why can’t you be real for once in your life?

The words from your lips they are all plagiarized

And they will find out just a matter of time

Those fake 60s boots, you bought on Amazon Prime

So that’s your excuse, you didn’t “…”

Well you can laugh now

You think you’ve fooled the crowd

You can laugh now

But you’re the clown

Why can’t you be real for once in your life?

The words from your lips they are all plagiarized

And they will find out just a matter of time

Amazon Prime-

ah ah ah ah ah

La la la la la
