Skinner Myers
&
Feisty Heart

From ANDRAS JONES: Today’s Pop Oracle session with FEISTY HEART welcomes director SKINNER MYER. Skinner came to our attention because of his beautiful and powerful Oscar nominated short film “Frank Embree”. It’s about a lynching. A true story. The link is at the bottom of this post. I wasn’t surprised Skinner asked the question he did or that it went the way it did but listening back I’m simply grateful that everyone in the room engaged a conversation about racism, and sexism, that pulled no punches. Neither did it waste it’s punches on divisiveness and rancor. We did what I want people to do on this show. We gathered together in a room. Posed a difficult question, allowed a randomly chosen song to guide our conversation and then we sat with what was revealed. Did it make a difference? It made a difference to me. I hope it makes a difference for you. And I hope you take the time to watch Skinner’s film. Remember his name – FRANK EMBREE – https://vimeo.com/204068386/6feac3cb17 (Pw: frankembree1899)

Days Are Gone

Maybe I could
feel free
Maybe I could
learn to be
every woman that’s ever known
lookin’ over her shoulder and feelin’ at home

I’ve got
feet on fire
hidden under
wings of desire
I’ve got footprints to leave
I’ve got places in my dreams

Before these days are gone
Before these days are gone, long gone
Before these days are gone
Before these days are gone, long gone

Maybe I could
catch a bus
Put a little distance
between us
It’s not that we weren’t meant to be free
Honey I was just born to be free

Before these days are gone
Before these days are gone, long gone
Before these days are gone
Before these days are gone, long gone

I can feel my
embers fading
I can feel the light in my eyes disappear
Goin’ out to early
Thank the stars that I’m still here

Before these days are gone
Before these days are gone, long gone
Before these days are gone
Before these days are gone, long gone

Maybe I could feel free
