From ANDRAS JONES: Imagine a skit from Portlandia about a guy who hosts a synchronicity podcast that features musicians and celebrities. Now imagine that guy lands a major star like FRED ARMISEN to be a guest on his show but Fred has a bad phone connection so we can only hear every other word he is saying. Meanwhile the host and his musical guest are too polite, starstruck, etc. to tell Fred we can’t hear him. Funny right? Until it happens to you.
TRACY BONHAM is one of our favorite guests on Radio8Ball and we can understand why she has such cool friends. You might say it’s her musicianship or her soulful singing or her beauty but I think it’s her laugh. Some people have a laugh that pushes you away while others draw you in. That’s Tracy’s laugh. It makes you feel like you’re in on the joke.
I hope you can make out some of the great things Fred had to say about playing music with Wendy & Lisa from Prince’s band or Stewart Copeland of The Police, and if you can’t, I hope you enjoy the comedy of not being able to hear him. When it comes to recording famous comedians, we’re all thumbs.
