From ANDRAS JONES: Nine years ago today Radio8Ball was onstage at Theater Off Jackson in Seattle with our musical guest PHIL ELVRUM, performing as Mt. Erie. We were joined (via Skype) by his fellow K Records artist (also its founder and owner) CALVIN JOHNSON who was Skypeing from the home of Jenny Jenkins whose version of our theme song is today’s randomly chosen Pop Oracle song of the day. I promise, there is no way for me to rig that kind of sync. The musical divination that played out onstage that night was both heartwarming and sweet and, like all our readings, may betray strains of prophecy for those who can look back at the road from that day to this. We can ask Calvin about all of this at the end of the month when we will be recording a Pop Oracle session in Missoula, Montana with Chris Sand who will be our musical guest for a show tributing Calvin and using his songs (performed by Chris) as our oracle fodder.
