From COOPER WALKER: “Got another heavy hitting question on this one, “Will I get to murder Assad?!”, asked of the Pop Oracle by Shereen of Ethnically Ambiguous. I have to say this answer for me was the most synchronistic of the segments. I wrote “Marionette”, the song our beloved Pop Oracle chose for us, as a sort of love letter to someone that you can’t help but love even though to see it’s not good for you. This, in my mind, perfectly sums up Shereen’s question because she is Syrian, she must love her home and her relatives still living there, and yet there is this, disease of tyranny that continues to crop up which absolutely stifles the political and social progress of the country and causes pain and loss in the interim. It’s exactly what I wrote the song about, I just didn’t know it until now…”
