The Money Tree is told like an urban fable. Bart’s production of urban stories is substantial . He does not revisit the urbantude of annihilation and desolation. Instead he hangs his hat in Baudelaire’s city “rich in poetic and marvelous subjects…” His voice is romantic, but there is irony and sultry subversion about his perception of city life.
