Anya Marina stopped through Olympia for her first of several appearances on Radio8Ball. Anya’s a perfect R8B guest. She writes great songs. She’s wicked smart and funny. And no matter how many times I tell her to play her own songs she always manages to sneak a clever cover into her set (like this one).
2005 and 2006 was the beginning of Radio8Ball as a live music performance show. Before that we mostly consulted The Pop Oracle on KAOS by picking CD’s at random and playing them on shuffle function. First in the wee hours of Wednesday nights/Thursday mornings and, beginning in fall 2004, from 6 to 8pm Tuesday nights. As a prime time show featuring live singer-songwriters Radio8Ball almost immediately picked up momentum and started to garner regional and even national attention, much to the consternation and jealousy of some of the old guard at the station.
